F.A.Q.'s

Are the Arabian tents weatherproof?
The exteriors are made from high quality coated polyester fabric to ensure they are totally waterproof and have recently endured winds of up to 60 mph.
Will the tents be warm enough?
Because of the heavy fabrics used for the interior and the separate exterior, the tents are self-insulating, meaning they stay warmer inside on cold evenings, and cooler than sweaty conventional PVC marquees on hot summers days.
Can the tents be heated or cooled?
The larger tents are heated with thermostatically controlled gas heaters which are extremely efficient. Leaving the heater on for half an area in a tent measuring 30ft x 90ft will ensure guests are greeted with a wall of warmth when they arrive, after which the thermostat can be set to ensure any temperature.
Smaller tents are heated with domestic electric heaters or oil-filled radiators running a few hours before your event.
Tents can be cooled either using the cold air setting on the gas unit or with an air conditioning unit for larger events.
Do the tents have doors?
There are 2 doors in every wall which can be left closed or rolled up to create doors or open windows as required.
Can you remove the walls once the tent has been erected?
Wall panels can be easily unclipped and rolled back during an event if necessary, and during erection, our team will ask you where this is likely to be required, so we can decorate the poles that will be revealed with voile drapes.
How many people do the tents hold?
We have created the layout chart on the 'Sizes and Layout' page to help you calculate the size you need, depending on your anticipated number of guests, however for a quick run-down of sizes and capacities;

When fully furnished with chill out furniture the comfortable capacities of the tents are:
  • 4.5m x 4.5m: 20 guests
  • 4.5m x 9m: 40 guests
  • 9m x 9m: 80 guests
  • 9m x 18m: 150 guests (100 if dining and dancing)
  • 9m x 27m: 200 guests (150 if dining and dancing)
  • 18m x 18m: 250 guests (200 if dining and dancing)
  • 27m x 27m: 300 guests (250 if dining and dancing)
What sort of surface can Arabian Tents be erected on?
Being frame structures they can be erected on hardstandings such as tennis courts, concrete carparks and gravel drives as well as the traditional areas for tents such as grass lawns. Sometimes where significant additional weighting is required an additional charge for these anchors may be required.
It is also possible to transform the interior of a freestanding frame marquee or other venue into an Arabian, Moroccan, Bollywood or Middle Eastern interior if you have an existing space that you would like to use.
We have also created souks using a series of our 15ft x 15ft tents all with different interiors inside hotels and exhibition centres. We are able to create highly decorative exteriors for these projects by using the interiors of the tents on the outside...creating a true oasis of colour.
How much space is required around the tents for guy ropes?
Because the guy ropes are not an absolutely essential part of our practical framed structures, and with tents able to be weighted and guyed at angles, or with creative use of trees, flowerbeds and eyebolts to tie to, very little space is required around the tents, however allowing 1ft makes it easier for our team.
Can the tents be joined together?
We often connect the tents, either small structures to large, or in a series of large structures, guttering the joins to ensure waterproof consistency. Tents can also be placed with open walls adjacent (ie, open side to open side) which works well to create a courtyard area in between a dining and dance tent.
Can you attach the tents to buildings?
The way this is best achieved is by butting the edge of the tent as close to the building as possible and using eyebolts or existing fixtures on masonry or doorframes to create a guttering around the doorway. Although this is not always possible, we can often come up with other ideas if this solution is required.
When would you put them up?
Usually, at least a day before the planned event...ideally two. However, it depends on when it is convenient for you...if it's a surprise birthday party we are happy to start very early in the morning to get it finished in time.
How long do the tents take to erect?
Much depends on what sizes are involved, how many tents, and the nature of the site. Most set-ups can be erected, furnished and lit in a single day.
When would you take them down?
Depending on when is convenient for you, usually one or two days after the event (typically, on Mondays or Tuesdays) and occasionally in very busy periods, the day after.
How long does the take-down take?
Usually a lot less time than it does to erect them! Half a day is normally sufficient to pack everything away or a day with larger events.

THEMING AND INTERIOR DECORATION SERVICES

If I've already booked a marquee or venue,
can you transform the interior to look like one of your tents?

Absolutely. Due to increased demand for this type of service, we have created a special range of linings that can transform barns in to Arabian palaces, school halls into Bollywood wonderlands and bring some Cornish Cream elegance to conventional marquees.. See our sister company www.chilloutfurniture.com or contact us through Arabian Tents for a quotation.
Combined with our furnishing services bringing lounge furniture, wedding furniture and event furniture as well as heating and lighting to your event, it means that we can help you at any time of the year and in virtually any location.
What dimensions does the marquee or venue need to be for you to work with?
We work to widths of 9m, 12m and 15m and lengths from 9m to 30m.
We usually need a ceiling height of a least 12 feet in order to create an attractive tented appearance.
How do you attach the linings to the marquee or venue?
Inside a clear span marquee we can fix to the existing structure as normal linings would be. In venues such as barns, rafters and beams can be used, or if necessary a basic scaffolding frame might be required to be erected.
How long does it take to set up the interiors?
Similar to erecting a tent...most events can be lined and furnished within a day.

GENERAL INFORMATION

What sort of access do you need for delivering the tents or event furniture?
All our equipment can be carried through a typical garden gate (30 inches width). Access is required within a reasonable distance of the event for Luton-type vans...it is helpful if you can explain the type of access when you contact us.
Do you need to see the site before the event?
Not always. Often photographs and a description of the site access is sufficient to be able to decide whether or not a site visit is necessary...if it is, we will make one. However, if you would like to meet with us to discuss any of your ideas, we are happy to o this, or a trip to our warehouse in Sussex can often be productive, viewing all the furniture hire items we have in stock and seeing the beautiful fabrics we use close-up.
Do you need a power supply?
Most lighting can run from a 13-amp domestic supply or a generator. Our cabling is weatherproof and purpose build or adapted for use in venues.
What will it cost to deliver the tent or event furniture?
The delivery cost is based on the distance between our Sussex base to your venue and includes installation and dismantling the event also. For a precise quote we will need the delivery postcode, however for example:
  • For a fully furnished 9m x 9m tent in London would cost around £180+ VAT for delivery, installation and collection.
  • A 9m x 27m tent with dining seating, dance floor and lounge area for 150 people in Oxford would cost approx £250 + VAT, and
  • A 12m x 24m marquee transformation with ottoman dining seating for 100 guests in Cambridge would cost £240 + VAT
Do you 'dry hire' your equipment?
Dry hiring is when you collect our furniture from our warehouse in Sussex and deliver it back again after your event. This is possible to arrange for furniture hire and accessory hire (lanterns, palm trees, screens etc) although we are only able to use this arrangement with our marquee linings to marquee professionals.
How do I book one of your tents or themeing services?
Send us a postcard or give us a call and let us know a few details about the event you are planning;
  • Type of event
  • Number of guests
  • The 'theme' or style you are interested in
  • Date of the event
  • Whereabouts of the venue
  • Any other details you think are relevant to enable us to visualise your ideas
We will then email quotation, and if necessary arrange a site visit.
To secure your tent or furnishings we require a deposit of 50% of the quoted price with the balance payable on delivery.

All our prices are subject to Delivery (unless otherwise agreed) and VAT at the standard rate.
